MTC
Flexo printer future proofs plant;
preserves strict QC and low MOQs
The Query
MTC requires strict monitoring of processes, quality control and compliance.
MTC is a flexible packaging printer headquartered Vienna, Austria with its plant in Pruszków, Poland. It exports to more than 25 countries including Europe, Scandinavia, and the US. MTC provides blister packaging for pharmaceutical and providing laminates and specialized foils for cosmetic packaging. MTC Polska is part of the MTC Holding Group, a family owned company, founded in 1986 in Vienna.
“Our goal is to establish a long-lasting, strategic partnership with our valuable customers,” says Lukasz Szczepanski, CFO, MTC Poland. To meet that goal, the package printer must be able to produce very low order quantities—minimum orders of MTC’s pharmaceutical jobs are five to ten kilograms; for cosmetics 250 square meters. Szczepanski was looking for a robust MIS that could handle the high-precision, high quality print jobs – and small production lots, as well as maintain strict quality control and regulatory compliance.

The challenge
Growth of the company motivated MTC stakeholders to update plant operations.
MTC began the process of selecting a new MIS system when it ended support of its old system. As the company expanded its lamination processes for aluminum foil and plastics, the need for an integrated Management Information System (MIS) became apparent.
Their legacy system lacked the capabilities to support sophisticated workflows, resulting in decreased productivity and responsiveness to customer demands. Furthermore, the pharmaceutical industry’s stringent requirement for traceability from raw materials to finished products necessitated a robust system capable of maintaining detailed, accessible records.
MTC’s transition to HiFlow’s MIS was driven by these critical needs, ensuring comprehensive integration of plant operations, real-time analytics, smart scheduling, and visual workflow technologies that enhanced operational efficiency and compliance.
“Pharmaceutical production is an extremely demanding process that requires visibility, control, and security. An MIS/MES system provides the support that enables manufacturers like MTC to take on complex projects.”
The solution
MTC navigates its expansion with features for regulatory compliance and robust management tools.
MTC faced a critical juncture with the need for a new Management Information System (MIS) that could handle high-precision and high-quality print jobs, particularly as they expanded their lamination process. The company required a system that not only maintained stringent quality control and compliance with industry regulations but also could integrate complex production workflows for small lot sizes efficiently.
HiFlow Solutions stepped in with a tailor-made software solution, designed specifically to meet the unique demands of MTC’s pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging operations.
The solution included key components such as HiFlow’s visual workflow technology, smart scheduling, and real-time analytics. These features streamlined operations by reducing manual touchpoints and providing critical data across all departments in real time, significantly enhancing responsiveness to customer needs.
HiFlow’s system supported full traceability of products from raw materials through to finished goods—an essential requirement for compliance with stringent regulations like ISO, FDA, EU MDR, and GMP. This was achieved through detailed records management and a robust database that allowed for precise tracking and validation at every stage of
production.
To facilitate error-free production, HiFlow included a die library in its database, enabling visual comparisons of dies to job templates, thus ensuring high accuracy in production
setups. This integration of tools and resources helped MTC not only meet but exceed regulatory compliance standards while maintaining the flexibility required for small lot
production.
The comprehensive set of tools provided by HiFlow allowed for effective management of business and production processes end-to-end, ensuring that all operations from order
receipt to product dispatch were smoothly handled. The robust data collection and analytics capabilities of the system enabled MTC to monitor costs closely and optimize processes, improving overall efficiency and profitability.
HiFlow’s customized MIS solution equipped MTC to navigate its expansion and regulatorynchallenges successfully, setting a new standard for operational excellence in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging industry
“We selected HiFlow because it had most of the required functionalities, as well as it met the functionalities required by our demanding clients from the pharmaceutical industry. Not all software vendors were able to meet these requirements.”
Takeaways
The demanding needs of pharma
HiFlow provides the MIS/MES systems designed to help pharma packaging manufacturers and printers operate more efficiently and profitably — and importantly, compliant. One crucial element for pharmaceutical and cosmetics is complete traceability throughout the process, from raw material to product production and inspection. HiFlow’s MIS compiles detailed records and stores information in its database.
HiFlow’s comprehensive set of tools supports quality control by including all the reports, documents, tests and information needed for regulatory compliance purposes. Complete traceability is achieved through HiFLow’s modules, from receipt of raw materials to production and shipping of finished goods.
